One smart Chicken
buck buck buck
Every afternoon, just before the sun starts going down, she shows up at the back door like clockwork to get me to put all the hens away for the night. She's one smart chicken!

Mowing the lawn in February
I guess we are pretty lucky this winter weather wise.
I was complaining a little because of the meager snow fall here and in our Mountains. The snow pack is so low here that there is talk already of drought and a bad fire season. I know the east coast keeps getting slammed with winter snow and California (Hi Kathy!) is getting all our Seattle rain this year.
But I have never been through a winter here where I had to mow my lawn in February! It was 64 degrees here and clear blue Sunny Seattle skies, not a rain cloud in the sky.
You know what this means.......a cold rainy summer!! I hope not! ;-)

Groundhog day!
Today was Groundhog day and I guess back east, Punxsutawney Phil came out of his tree stump and saw his shadow this morning. According to tradition, that means the groundhog is forecasting six more weeks of winter as opposed to an early spring.
Here in Western Washington we had a beautiful sunny day with a high of 60 degrees, I think this time old Phil is wrong!
Time to dust off the old "Groundhog Day" Dvd tonight and spend an evening or two or three with Bill Murray!
